All About Amanda

I work from my home in San Jose as a freelance cookbook proofreader, copy editor, developmental editor, writer, and recipe developer. I started my own business in December 2013. Before that I worked at Chronicle Books for three years wearing many different colorful hats including Food & Drink Editorial Intern, Managing Editorial Intern, Assistant to the President, Publisher, and VP of Sales and Marketing, and an Editorial Assistant to the Executive Editor of Children’s Publishing.

I was lucky enough to be trained as a recipe tester by the great cookbook editors at Chronicle and tested as many recipes I could during my tenure at Chronicle. I sat in on every Food & Drink meeting, discussion, and webinar the editors would allow and soaked up every bit of information possible. I still test recipes for many Chronicle cookbooks.

Before Chronicle, I worked for a small, indie publisher based in Santa Cruz for three years as a contract editor, copy editor, and proofreader.

I graduated from Santa Clara University with a Bachelor of Arts in English with a specification in Non-Fiction Writing. I received my Certificate in Professional Editing from the UC Berkeley Extension in early 2015 and completed the Copyediting Cookbooks course from Editcetera in 2014. I also belong to the Bay Area Editor’s Forum.

I love baking, cooking, barbecuing, candy-making, reading, finding grammatical errors, formatting manuscripts, and travelling. Email me for any and all queries: amandapoulsendix@gmail.com.
